OCSA Spanish Students Awarded First Place


Mrs. Marrero’s “Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish Honor Society) and Spanish classes participated in the FLORIDA STATE SPANISH CONFERENCE, held at the Orlando Wyndham Resort on March 10th through 12th, 2016. Students competed in various academic and artistic areas with other students from private and public schools in Florida. Each participation was evaluated by two judges following a Scoring Guideline of Outstanding (highest performance), Superior, Excellent, and Good.

Out of 23 ACADEMIC participations, our student's results were:

Impromptu Speech- 16 out of 16 “Outstanding” evaluations (with 8 Perfect scores)

Declamation- 4 out 6 “Outstanding” evaluations (with 2 Perfect scores) 2 out of 6 “Superior”

Drama (group performance)- “Outstanding”-Perfect score

REGIONAL DRESS; designed and confectioned by Lisamar Barreiro, modeled by Alanis Lopez- THIRD PLACE of the Conference

DANCE “Ritmo Caribeño” choreographed and performed by Nathalie Martinez, Maria Zambrano, and Alanis Lopez- SECOND PLACE of the Conference

VOCAL- Song “Puente Caribe”, performed by Mikala Banham, Julian Duque, Mariana Colin-Maldonado, and Linette Perez - FIRST PLACE of the Conference

SENIOR ESSAY-WRITING SCHOLARSHIP-awarded to Alanis Lopez
